FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

📍01 - Where do the fishing trips depart from?

All our charters leave from Sorrento Pier, VIC 3943 - Mornington Peninsula.

🚤 02 - Can you pick us up from Queenscliff?

We currently depart from Sorrento Pier and don’t offer pick-ups from Queenscliff for shared trips.

If you’re coming from that side of the bay, the easiest option is to hop on the Searoad Ferry from Queenscliff to Sorrento — it’s a quick and scenic ride, and we’re just a few minutes from the terminal.

If it’s a private trip (minimum 6 hour), we’re happy to come pick you up from Queenscliff — just a heads-up, there’s an extra $100 pick-up fee.

🐟 03 - What types of fishing trips do you offer?

We run a variety of trips to suit all ages and skill levels:

  • Bay & Deep Sea Fishing
  • Kids' Fishing Trips
  • Private Charters
  • Tuna Charters (seasonal)

Check out all available trips on our Fishing Trips page.

🦑 04 - What kind of fish can we catch?

We’re lucky to have a huge variety depending on the season and weather! Some of the common fish we target include:

  • Snapper – especially during spring and autumn runs
  • King George Whiting – great fun on light gear
  • Flathead – always a favourite and delicious
  • Squid (Calamari) – best in the shallows, great bait and even better on a plate
  • Kingfish – a powerful sportfish, usually in summer
  • Gummy Sharks – prized for their fight and flavour
  • Australian Salmon – hard-fighting and often caught in schools
  • Bluefin Tuna – a serious gamefish, usually targeted offshore when conditions and season allow

We always tailor the trip to what’s biting and what you’re keen on chasing.
No matter the season, we’ll get you onto something good.

🛟 05 - What’s included in the trip?

We provide:

  • Fishing rods, reels, bait, and tackle
  • Safety equipment
  • Friendly, experienced crew to help you out

🐬 06 - Can we spot dolphins and seals?

Yes! On many trips, especially in the bay, we often spot dolphins, seals, and seabirds.
Keep your camera ready—nature often shows off out here!

🚽 07 - Do you have a toilet on board?

Yep – there's a toilet on board, so no need to worry if nature calls while we're out.

🤮 08 - What if I get seasick?

Here’s a classic grandma trick: stick a bandage over your belly button – sounds odd, but some swear it helps with balance and nausea!

🎣 09 - Do I need a fishing license?

If you're aged 18–70, you’ll need a valid Victorian Recreational Fishing License.
You can buy it online from the VFA website.

🧢 10 - What should I bring?

  • Warm layers and windproof jacket
  • Hat and sunscreen
  • Snacks and water
  • Closed shoes

An esky for your catch (we’ve got plastic bags, but we're trying to cut down for the planet).

❌ 11 - What’s your cancellation policy?

If you cancel less than 4 days before your trip, we can reschedule you, but we can't refund you.
If we cancel due to weather, you can rebook or get a refund—your call.

For full details, check out our Policy Page.

🚗 12 - Is parking available?

Yes—there’s paid parking near Sorrento Pier.
For free options, you can park up the hill near the Sorrento Pub and take a short walk down.

💻 13 - How do I book?

Booking is super easy:

  • Head to our Fishing Trips page.
  • Select the trip duration that suits you best.
  • Click BOOK NOW and follow the prompts to lock in your spot.

You’ll get a confirmation email with all the details once you’re booked in.

♿ 14 - Can you accommodate people with disabilities or wheelchairs?

Yes – we’re happy to welcome guests with limited mobility or in wheelchairs. We’ll assist you in getting safely on board.

Just a heads up: the toilet access might be tricky. There’s a small step and the doorway is quite narrow, so it may not be suitable for all wheelchairs.

If you’re unsure, feel free to contact us before booking so we can chat about how to make it work for you.

🐕 15 - Can I bring my dog on board?

We love pets, but our boat isn’t really set up for dogs. There’s limited space and it can get slippery and noisy, which might stress your furry mate. For safety and comfort of everyone on board, we kindly ask you not to bring dogs.

🌊 16 - Are we always catching fish?

The ocean has its own rhythm and mood—it’s a wild, living world that doesn’t always follow our plans. While we know where the fish like to hang out and when they’re biting, sometimes the sea plays its own game. But every trip is an adventure, filled with fresh air, stunning views, and the thrill of the chase. Our expert crew will put you in the best spots, giving you the top chance to hook a good one. Fishing isn’t just about the catch—it’s about the journey.
